For Elena critical concerns regarding the conceptual significance of archives and the persistency with memory in a society fearful of forgetting have funneled her practice and research by transforming found material into collages, sculptures, video and installations. However, as opposed to traditional archives with historical-linear narratives, the majority of her work disregards an order by insinuating possible mental relations. She utilizes identifiable structures of traditional archives so as to activate recollection and point out the potential to fragment and destabilize either remembrance as recorded, or history as written continuum of what has come to pass.
